Empire Resources has become Western Australia’s newest gold producer, after achieving its first gold pour from its Penny’s Find mine near Kalgoorlie.

Perth-based Empire has been trucking gold ore from Penny’s Find to two nearby processing facilities in the region.

The first of those to pour a gold bar from Penny’s Find ore was the Lakewood facility south of Kalgoorlie, while about 16,000 tonnes of ore is being processed at the Burbanks mill south of Coolgardie.

About 9,000t of gold ore is stockpiled at Lakewood.

“The board thanks our employees, contractors, shareholders and community stakeholders for their continued support in helping achieve Empire’s first gold production and gold pour from Penny’s Find,” managing director David Sargeant said.

“There has been a huge effort put in by our small team of employees and contractors who have all contributed to this company milestone.”

Empire has also been mulling the use of Poseidon Nickel’s mothballed Black Swan processing facility near Kalgoorlie to process its gold ore.

Shares in Empire were 4.3 per cent higher to 2.4 cents each ahead of the close of trade.
