EMIRATES is to fly twice daily from Perth to Dubai following news that it will boost its weekly flights from 11 to 14. In December, Emirates said it planned to further increase its capacity to Perth by upgrading its evening daily flight from an Airbus A340-300 offering 267 seats to a Boeing 777-300ER with 364 seats, an increase of 36 per cent. A total of 644 seats will then be available daily between Perth and Dubai. The increase in capacity makes Emirates one of the more frequent carriers to the Middle east, having launched service to Western Australia four years ago with four flights per week. The new services will provide additional cargo capacity, supporting Emirates SkyCargo in its ongoing efforts to develop existing business, as well as new export opportunities from WA to more than 80 destinations throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the US. The additional capacity will help meet the current high demand for mining equipment to Africa and the increasing volumes of perishable products such as chilled meat, fruit and flowers to the Middle East and Europe.
