OFFERS to buy homes affected by the Fremantle Rockingham Industrial Area Regional Strategy by the WA Government have been brought forward.
Planning Minister Graham Kierath said homeowners would now have the opportunity to sell their homes within three years instead of the initial 10-year plan.
Legislation to implement the FRIARS plan passed State Parliament last week.
The plan creates 100 hectares of heavy industrial land and 800 hectares for general industrial land not unlike what exists in Canning Vale.
“For years there has been uncertainty in Wattleup and Hope Valley because of the proximity of the existing industrial area,” Mr Kierath said.
“Those people who have tried to sell their homes and leave the area have faced decreased values and long delays.”
