Appointment of Chief Executive Officer
The directors of Dwyka Diamonds Limited ("Dwyka" or "the Company"), the AIM and ASX quoted diamond producer and developer, today announces the appointment of Adrian Griffin (aged 52) as Chief Executive Officer of the Company, effective from 1 December 2005.
Adrian's appointment is designed to allow the Company to effectively manage its current stage of rapid operational growth due to the recent successes in acquiring and opening the two underground kimberlite mines, Blaauwbosch and Newlands and the conclusion of the two transactions with De Beers.
Mr Griffin graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1975 with majors in geology and metallurgy. He has spent 30 years in the mining industry with responsibilities including exploration, feasibility, financing and development of a wide range of commodities. His exposure includes professional involvement in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Australia and Antarctica. He has been instrumental in the development of operations exploring for and producing a range of commodities which include gemstones, iron ore, base metals, mineral sands, platinum group metals and gold.
He has had numerous senior appointments with public companies including those of exploration manager, open pit manager, registered mine manager of underground operations, chief operating officer and various board appointments. He has specialised in development and commissioning operations which have benefited from the application of less conventional mining and processing technologies to enhance value.
