Double platinum

PERTH-based Aquarius Platinum Limited is set to become a significant player globally.

Results of a feasibility study on its Marikana project indicated that the company could nearly double its PGM (platinum, palladium, rhodium, gold) output to more than 220,000 ounces per annum.

Aquarius managing director Keith Liddell said the miner could achieve a 500,000 oz/annum target with the likely purchase of the Everest South project from Impala Platinum Holdings.
