Doray chairman resigns

Doray Minerals chairman Peter Lester has told the company he will retire on Monday to focus on his other business interests, less than two months after founding managing director Allan Kelly resigned.

Mr Lester served as non-executive chairman of Doray for two and a half years, joining the company when the gold miner acquired Mutiny Gold. He had served in the same role at Mutiny.

“During his tenure as chairman of the company, Doray successfully acquired the Deflector gold project, funded its development and transitioned into a multi-mine producer,” Doray said in a statement.

“The board expresses its thanks to Mr Lester for his guidance and contribution over the past two and a half years.

“The company has commenced a search for a replacement chairman and will provide an update as soon as practicable.”

Mr Lester is also non-executive chairman of Kidman Resources.

It follows the resignation of Mr Kelly, who founded Doray in 2009, in late November after nearly eight years in the role. He cited personal reasons as the means for his departure.

Doray shares were 0.4 per cent higher to 44.2 cents each at 10am.
