Perth-based technology firm Diverse IT has acquired the privately held cloud services provider Red Ember Solutions for an undisclosed amount.

Diverse IT, which specialises in IT networks, disaster recovery, cloud, mobility, satellite and wireless communications, said Red Ember’s specialist skills and assets in cloud and hosted solutions would complement its existing platform.

“This is a strategic investment for Diverse IT in order to expand our existing cloud capabilities,” Diverse IT managing director David Cameron said.

“We want to assist Australian businesses to become more efficient, smarter and flexible, as they continue to embrace the cloud era.

According to the IDC enterprise cloud survey, Diverse IT said, Australia’s adoption of cloud services was steadily increasing, with 86 per cent of enterprises utilising cloud services.

IDC estimates the total cloud services market will grow from $884.4 million in 2012 to $2.67 billion in 2017 at a compound annual growth rate of 24.7 per cent.

“Our clients will continue to receive the same high quality solutions and service that they have come to expect form us,” Red Ember chief technology officer Luke Notley said.

“Red Ember and Diverse IT are a natural fit from both the business and cultural perspectives.

Diverse IT intends to retain all Red Ember employees after the acquisition.
