Diamonds are Variety’s best friend

The Kimberley Diamond Company, in conjunction with Variety Western Australia, recently held the fourth annual Diamond Dinner and Diamond Auction to raise funds for children in the state’s north. Kimberley Diamonds and Variety have enjoyed a five-year association raising funds for children through a range of projects. The total amount raised from the auction is yet to be finalised, but will include $82,000 raised from the sale of four rings and a pendant donated by Kimberley Diamonds. One of the rings, a 41 carat yellow and gold platinum hand-made piece, went for $41,000. The majority of proceeds from the evening will go to programs in the Derby region, with $30,000 for the construction of a skate park in Derby. Other funds are to be spent on a scholarship program at Derby senior high school. Kimberley Diamonds and Variety are also looking at employment programs to provide opportunities for the region’s youth. The fund raising activities are designed to bring about positive social change and improve sport and recreation facilities in the area.
