Development projects worth more than $250 million are underway in the Mid West.
According to Mid West Development Commission CEO Wayne Morgan, significant business, investment and employment opportunities are based on developments in the resources, manufacturing, agriculture, fishing and tourism industries.
“There is also a lot of activity on the ground now,” Mr Morgan said.
Major projects include Vanadium Australia’s Windimurra vanadium mine and processing plant, construction of the Mid West gas pipeline, road and airport upgrades and the Batavia Coast Marina at Geraldton.
Tourism-related projects include a world-class Mid West museum, Geraldton aquatic centre, and tourist facilities at Port Kalbarri.
“This level of activity reflects the optimism and commitment business and government bring to the region,” Mr Morgan said.
Other major projects worth more than $3 billion are on the drawing boards for the region, including the proposed Kingstream Steel and Mt Gibson iron and steel projects.
The Oakajee Indust-rial Estate and associated deep water port will open up the region’s ability to add value to its wealth of resources.
