ITHIN eight months of joining the design team at The Shorter Group, Michael Adams has won first and second prize in the Australian Shop and Office Fitting Industry Association’s corporate identity design competition.
The brief was to create a lasting image for ASOFIA that captured the essence of the industry, creating an image of professionalism and international standards while being contemporary.
Mr Adams, a graduate of the WA School of Art, Design and Media, said the ASOFIA encompassed a number of trades that worked as a team, so he needed to avoid designing a mark that was trade specific.
“I took a broader perspective and created a single line proposition: the spatial whole,” Mr Adams said.
“The design also alludes to the ‘space’ we navigate through when visiting shopping centres and offices.”
