Bathurst Resources, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Iron were recognised as some of Western Australia’s most successful listed companies at an awards ceremony in Kalgoorlie last night.
Stockbroker and industry analyst Deloitte held its High Growth Awards in Kalgoorlie yesterday, highlighting the fastest-growing companies in the last one, five and 10 years.
Bathurst Resources was the winner in the one year category, with a 5,544 per cent increase in market capitalisation, while Atlas Iron was the biggest mover over five years, with a 6900 per cent increase in market cap.
Fortescue Metals was the fastest growing WA company over the last ten years, with its market cap increasing from $6 million ten years ago to $20.2 billion this year.
Deloitte WA managing partner Keith Jones said the percentage growth from the three companies was nothing short of extraordinary.
“The growth has been underpinned by strong commodity and precious metal demand, however the capacity to find and exploit the resource opportunities demonstrates the creativity and effectiveness of the companies based in Western AUstrlaia,” Mr Jones said.
“The Western Australian corporate culture has created an environment where talent, risk appetite, natural resources and entrepreneurial energy have combined to capitalise on the generational opportunity available in the resources sector.”
