The Port Hedland project is Decmil's second contract win this year.

Osborne Park-based Decmil Group has been selected to build a new community centre at Port Hedland, with its contract worth $18.1 million.

The work is associated with stage one of the $37.1 million Port Hedland Sports and Community Hub, intended to revitalise the town’s sporting and recreation precinct.

Decmil has been contracted by the Town of Port Hedland to demolish existing turf club structures and build a new community centre and associated car park, as well as complete landscaping upgrades, build internal roads and refurbish horse stables.

The work is due to complete in March 2023.

“Securing this contract was a testament to Decmil’s proven track record of successfully delivering building construction contracts in regional areas,” Decmil chief executive Dickie Dique said.

The Port Hedland project marks the company’s second contract win this year, with Decmil recently selected by Main Roads WA to build a new cycle and pedestrian path along Mitchell Freeway Southbound.

That contract is worth $23.3 million.

Decmil’s shares were trading 3.8 per cent higher at 12:30pm AEDT on Tuesday to 33 cents each.
