Decmil wins $41m Iron Bridge works

Decmil Group has announced it will undertake $41 million of miscellaneous infrastructure works at Fortescue Metal Group’s Iron Bridge magnetite project.

That work, scheduled to begin this month and completed in May, will include the design and construction of a bulk fuel storage and transfer facility at the site, as well as a mobile maintenance complex, workshops, warehouse and satellite offices.

Decmil chief executive Dickie Dique said the company was delighted to secure the work.

“Crucially, this award at such a major project enhances our credentials to potentially secure more work in a resurgent iron ore and magnetite sector,” he said.

Today’s announcement comes after Pindan secured a $3.4 million contract to build offices and other buildings at the site in June.

Iron Bridge, which is estimated to cost about $3.8 billion upon completion, is expected to produce 22 million wet metric tonnes of iron ore per annum once operational in 2022.

Fortescue Metals Group owns more than a two-thirds stake in the project, with Taiwan-based Formosa Plastics Group and Shanghai-based Baosteel Resources owning the remaining stake.

Decmil was trading at $0.06/share at 11am AEST.
