Decmil wins $36m BHP village contract

BHP Billiton Iron Ore has awarded Decmil Group stage two of the Port Haven accommodation village contract, valued at $36 million.

The agreement is on top of the stage one contract which was awarded to Decmil earlier this year. The contract comprised the single story components for the Port Hedland village.

The total contract value is around $100 million, Decmil said.

Stage two comprises the installation of 800 two-storey accommodation rooms and a wet mess.

Decmil chief executive Scott Criddle said the additional work lifted the group's total forward order book to $384 million of which $240 million related to the current financial year.

"Decmil currently has the resources to service contracts to the value of up to $A500 million," he said.

"This new contract is further recognition of Decmil's solid reputation with blue-chip companies and provides [Decmil] with a solid platform for future growth."

Other clients include Chevron, Woodside Petroleum and Rio Tinto.

Shares in Decmil climbed 6.5 cents to 94.5c at 13:55 AEST.
