Department of Culture and the Arts director general Allanah Lucas has announced she will step down and pursue a different role in the public sector.
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said Ms Lucas had played a pivotal role in managing financial pressures in the arts sector while also leading its ongoing growth.
Ms Lucas was appointed director of ArtsWA in 1999, which led to her appointment as executive director development and strategy in 2005.
She was prompted to the director general’s position in 2008.
“Allanah guided the planning and delivery of cultural infrastructure, the most significant being the delivery of the State Theatre Centre in 2011,” Mr Day said in a statement.
“She has also played an important role in the first stages of planning for the new Western Australian Museum in the Perth Cultural Centre.
“I thank Allanah for her invaluable advice and assistance and wish her all the best in her future career pursuits.”
