FINANCIAL planner and taxation specialist David Powell is helping the lucky country to plan for its financial future. Mr Powell believes the complexity of the taxation system and corporations law contributes to the ineffective management of personal wealth. Hardest hit are those regional areas with more money to burn because financial services are not readily available. His business, BluePrint, offers families in regional areas the oppor-tunity to access quality, non-biased, professional planning solutions. One of Mr Powell’s greatest achievements was developing a network of planners in four regional areas to deliver these services and therefore contribute to the building of a sustainable industry in regional Australia. BluePrint’s original five-year business plan commenced in 2001 but was completed in 2003, with customer numbers growing by more than 700 per cent. The business is now developing an integrated marketing plan that will be complemented with a new five-year business plan. BluePrint’s model ensures its philosophy of organic growth will continue, with employees committ-ing to the business as if it were their own, and participating in wealth sharing. Its focus on sustainable, profitable growth has led to the evolution of a business structure that includes a back office, marketing, administrative and para-planning team with a regional presence. Mr Powell’s guiding values include a commitment and focus on the building of knowledge, an open mind to challenging current paradigms and a preparedness to share the business model with other financial planning professionals.
