Darren Lomman has established a business that specialises in the development of custom designed equipment that overcomes the physical limitations of people with disabilities.

The hand-controlled motorcycle he designed was the beginning of Dreamfit.

Mr Lomman turned one project into a company, and now has a workshop in Bentley and numerous engineering students working with him.

He has leveraged his skills through a collaboration he initiated with UWA, which has led to more than 20 students using their engineering skills to develop equipment for people with disabilities.

Mr Lomman completed a bachelor of mechanical engineering at UWA, and has a certificate IV in small business management.

He has received numerous awards including WA citizen of the year 2006 and WA young person of the year 2006.

Besides Dreamfit, Mr Lomman has organised the 2006 ‘Celebration of Ability’ exhibition at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. The theme was to celebrate the achievements and abilities of people with disabilities. He is also president of the DisAbled recreation group and has supported more than 30 organisations during his short career.
