Perth-based DTI Group Ltd has secured a multi-million dollar contract with the Brisbane City Council to supply and install video surveillance systems into 450 buses.
The scope of works also include DTI's GPS based vehicle location system, wireless data communications infrastructure and DTI's fleet management software suite. DTI's wireless infrastructure and back-end CCTV management system centralises and coordinates the bus CCTV network.
Each bus will be equipped with DTI's Mobile Digital Recorder (MDR-5) and between six and eight high resolution colour cameras plus wireless infrastructure. A microphone located in the forward part of the bus is available to capture audio/voice communications under 'duress' or emergency situations. An optional Driver Display will also cater for viewing of the rear door further enhancing passenger safety.
Under the agreement, DTI will provide ongoing services such as help desk assistance and technical support, equipment monitoring and reporting as well as IT infrastructure support.
The Brisbane City Council project further builds on DTI's success across Australia in providing advanced city-wide transit surveillance solutions and services in over half of Australia's capital cities. With 8,500 cameras now installed in buses and trains in Australia and a further 2,700 to be installed as part of the Brisbane City Council project, DTI is well positioned as the major transit surveillance provider in Australia.
CEO Richard Johnson said: "We are pleased that Brisbane City Council selected DTI for their transit surveillance provider. The solution will be an important tool for increasing safety and security and will provide ongoing benefits in the management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage".
