DRD restructured to boost effect

Western Australia’s Department of Resources Development (DRD) has been restructured as part of a drive to increase its effectiveness in securing major resource development projects.

A Resources Development Strategies Division will be headed by executive director Noel Ashcroft.

Additionally, a new Business Development Division has also been set up to promote the State as a location for resource investment, and to identify and promote new downstream processing opportunities in WA.

This division will also be responsible for increasing awareness of DRD’s services in the wider investment community outside the State.

DRD CEO Jim Limerick said the main thrust of the new strategies division will be the adoption of principles of best practice project facilitation.

The department has hired Kinhill consultants to determine what investors look for from a government facilitation group.
