THE HEALTH Department has signed a new five year contract for the provision of information technology for the WA Government Health System.
The $75 million contract is with a consortium led by DMR Consulting and includes WA-based AMCON Solutions, Fujitsu (Australia) and Telstra.
There is provision in the contract for cost overruns and savings to be shared equally.
This would give the DMR consortium an incentive to keep costs within budget and a mechanism to increase profits by reducing costs.
The consortium’s initial focus will be on the core information management services already shared across the health system in areas such as patient records, laboratory systems, radiology, scheduling, theatre management and finance.
Changes in WAGHS’ organisation and business needs can be accommodated under the contract which includes a five year option after the initial five year period.
