THE Note hears Geraldton staged its own version of cracker night last week after one resident tried unsuccessfully to make biodiesel at home with a recipe from the internet. A resident from Spalding is believed to have overheated some vegetable oil which promptly burnt down his biodiesel-making equipment, raising the alarm at the Geraldton Fire Station. Steep prices for diesel fuel in the town is reportedly sending many 4WD devotees into the backyard to try their luck at making some ‘home grown’. While The Note supports research into alternative fuels, we suggest the resident stick to ‘shopper-dockets’ to save money, and their hair, in future.
