CURTIN University of Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a major Indonesian oil and gas training provider. Under the MoU, Curtin will assist in the provision of short course industry training and petroleum consultancy.
The MoU is with Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC), a subsidiary of Indonesia’s largest oil and gas company, PT Pertamina (Persero).
Curtin says the MoU also allowed for the provision of a wide scope of education, training and consultancy, which includes the delivery of masters degree programs offshore. The agreement shows Curtin’s growing reputation in the international petroleum engineering industry.
Curtin recently signed a similar agreement with the National Iranian Oil Company and Tehran’s Petroleum University of Technology in the Middle East.
“In the past we had been looking to the US and the UK for training our staff and now it is time for change,” PT Pertamina Mainstream director and senior vice-president, Bambang Nugroho said. “A joint cooperation with Curtin University of Technology is the only way to improve human resources expertise in the field of drilling technology and production technology in the oil industry.”
