Gold miner Noble Mineral Resources has appointed former Sandfire Resources general manager Craig Dawson as its new chief executive.
Mr Dawson holds more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry, including senior management roles at Sandfire, Aditya Birla Minerals and Northern Mining.
Noble’s acting chief executive Brian Thomas said Mr Dawson joined the compay at a crucial time in its development.
“Craig has a wealth of leadership experience and his appointment will give added impetus to the development of the Bibiani gold project,” Mr Thomas said in a statement.
“As a first priority, we expect Craig will play an important role in the current review of operations being undertaken by our joint technical and operating committee with our major shareholder, Resolute Mining.”
Mr Thomas said the review had identified a number of opportunities to improve operating efficiencies.
At 1:30PM, WST, Noble’s stock was up 8.1 per cent, trading at 4 cents.
