Council is operating better than ever: Scaffidi

Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi claims there is a witch hunt going on, but insists the council is operating better than ever and a $500,000 audit should reassure ratepayers.

Ms Scaffidi’s comments came after The West Australian newspaper reported councillors were asked to sign a statutory declaration that they had not been in contact with journalists regarding the new chief executive's probation or performance review committee matters.

Ms Scaffidi said there was a lot of "fake facts out there", adding she did not issue the statutory declaration but thought it was a "no-brainer" that councillors sign it.
