Updated: Core Drilling Services has secured a contract with BCI Minerals for a major drilling program planned at its Buckland iron ore project located in the Pilbara.

Under the contract, Core will drill approximately 300 reverse circulation holes for about 14,500 metres with work expected to begin later this month.

The work is expected to last for three months.

BCI managing director Alwyn Vorster said the drilling program plans to test targets where the company has identified high-grade outcropping bedded iron deposit mineralisation.

“We are pleased to commence this important drilling programme at Kumina,” he said

“Discovery of meaningful tonnages of higher grade bedded mineralisation has the potential to reshape the overall Buckland iron ore project and its target product mix.”

BCI's portfolio currently includes interests in iron ore, salt, potash and gold and base metal projects.

Shares in BCI finished up 3 per cent at 16 cents each.
