Cooper & Oxley Builders has been awarded a $26.9 million contract for the second stage of expansion works at Halls Head Community College.
Education Minister Peter Collier announced Cooper & Oxley as the successful builder today.
The expansion project, which includes the construction of three new double-storey classroom blocks, performing arts, media, visual arts and food and textiles facilities, as well as a renovation of the school canteen and gymnasium, is expected to be completed by July next year.
Once complete, the college will have a capacity of 1,400 students.
The expansion was designed by Parry & Rosenthal Architects, while Mr Collier said the entire works package was worth $38.9 million.
“The expansion of Halls Head Community College is just one of 75 major capital works projects in Western Australian schools this year that will provide for a large growth in student numbers,” he said.
“From 2009-10 to 2013-14 this government invested an unprecedented $1.56 billion in school infrastructure, which resulted in 33 schools and 799 new classrooms.”
