Theatrical performances are flourishing all over the city this month with a large selection of contemporary shows that will certainly appeal to Perth’s urbanites’ thirst for creative works. As part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Festival, Perth Theatre Company is performing The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? at PICA up until June 23. Playwright Edward Albee won several prizes for this play, including the 2002 New York critic’s Circle award for best play. Also, The Bakery has something a little special on June 21. Perth’s Bar Theatre is a cabaret-style evening featuring various scenes from plays such as The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband, by Debbie Isitt; Terese Raquin, by Emile Zola and lesser-known Christopher Shinn’s, The Coming World. The evening of entertainment will also feature a local live band playing between the theatrical performances and a selection of light snacks will be available.
