Construction Activity
PRELIMINARY estimates indicate that the value of new residential building work done in WA increased by 12.9 per cent to a record $888 million between December and March 2004, more than offsetting a small dip in December.
The value of work done increased by 19.3 per cent through the four quarters to March.
Both non-residential building and engineering construction work done fell during the March quarter, although in both cases the value of activity was higher than levels a year previously.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted value of residential building, non-residential building and engineering construction work done rose between the December and March quarters, although in the construction sector the rate of growth is slowing.
