Commodity Prices

Australia's commodity price index measured in Australian dollars increased by 0.2 per cent between March and April 2004.The index measured in Special Drawing Rights (a basket of international currencies) increased by 0.4 per cent over the month, and the US Dollar index fell by 0.3 per cent.

Through the 12 months to April, commodity prices decreased by 5 per cent in Australian dollars, while the SDR measure increased by 8.5 per cent and the US Dollar index increased by 16.2 per cent .
