Committee to help government

A NEW community consultative committee has been established to help Premier Richard Court with economic and social developments in the lower South West.

The Shires of Manji-mup, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Augusta-Margaret River and Nannup are represented on the committee along with the South West Development Commission, the Manjimup Chamber of Commerce and the Warren-Blackwood Business Assistance Centre.

Warren-Blackwood MLA Paul Omodei is driving the committee that will coordinate efforts to accelerate the restructure of the timber industry and develop new projects.

Mr Omodei said matters needing input from a number of Ministers would be sent direct to the Premier to ensure a prompt and coordinated response.

“The circumstances in the mining, timber and horticultural industries that have affected the lower South West require a positive response from government and the community to create new opportunities,” Mr Omodei said.
