THE Australian Securities and Investments Commission has invited public comment on its policy proposals about how trustees of superannuation entities deliver product disclosure information about available investment options to members.
The proposals will be relevant to all superannuation entities that allow members to choose between different investment strategies, including funds commonly known as superannuation master trusts.
The proposals allow the trustee to deliver the required information by either:
Preparing the information themselves, whether through a product disclosure statement or in a supplementary PDS; or
Supplementing their own modified PDS with a PDS prepared by the issuer of the particular product that can be accessed via a specific investment product.
The policy paper, called Superannuation: Deliver of product disclosure and investment choice is available from www.asic.gov.au or by phoning 1300 300 630.
