SHARES in Australia’s second biggest retailer, Coles Group Ltd, and potential predator Wesfarmers Ltd rose sharply following an offer of $16.47 cash per share by the diversified industrial and its three consortium partners. Analysts say that while a counter bid is possible, private equity groups will find it difficult to match the benefits offered by Wesfarmers.
