COLES Myer has signed a lease agreement with Westralia Airports Corporation, with the intention to establish its $100 million regional distribution centre on a 25-hectare site in Perth Airport’s Kewlink East estate. Perth Airport general manager Neil Kidd said the potential development of the site would create one of the most significant non-aviation projects to be developed on airport land since the airport’s privatisation. In addition, the regional distribution centre is expected to make significant contributions to the state’s economy. Results from a study undertaken for a similar development indicate that employment, total output and economic growth in Western Australia will be boosted both during and after the construction of the centre.
