Cole to chair Landgate

Former Woodside executive Robert Cole has been appointed chair of Landgate's board for a three-year term.

Mr Cole replaces outgoing chair Caroline de Mori, who has been on the board since 2015.

Formerly a lawyer, Mr Cole held positions at King & Wood Mallesons before joining Woodside.

After starting at Woodside as general counsel in 2006, Mr Cole went on to work in executive roles at the company, including as executive director, corporate and commercial.  

Now a prominent non-executive director, Mr Cole is chair of Synergy and GLX Holdings and sits on the boards of St Bart’s, Iluka Resources and Perenti.

He also served as chair of the Southern Ports Authority until earlier this year.

Lands Minister Ben Wyatt said Mr Cole’s leadership, legal and corporate governance skills would ensure he was able to support Landgate in achieving its statutory and commercial obligations.

Mr Wyatt also thanked outgoing chair Ms de Mori for her contribution.

“Caroline played an important leadership role in pursuing Landgate’s digital transformation strategy and supporting the agency through the partial commercialisation of its automated land titling functions and related asset divestments,” Mr Wyatt said.

“This resulted in a combined $1.6 billion return to the state last year.

“Caroline’s business acumen and strategic engagement expertise has been highly valued and I wish her well for her future endeavours.”
