Clough wins Ichthys work

Engineering group Clough has won a contract for work on Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project in the Browse Basin, with the value undisclosed.

The scope of work involves offshore hook-up services and commissioning assistance at the project’s central processing facility, which was built by Samsung Heavy Industries.

“Work will commence in the first quarter of 2016 with the mobilisation of engineering and technical teams to the SHI fabrication yard in Geoje, Korea before moving offshore in the Browse Basin,” Clough said in a statement.

“Project management will be executed from Clough’s office in Perth with the technical support of Clough’s South Korean joint venture, CloughCoens.”

Outgoing chief executive Kevin Gallagher, who will shortly become CEO at Santos, said the contract win brought Clough’s investment in developing hook-up capabilities to fruition.

“I am particularly delighted to continue to build on our strong relationship with Inpex on the Ichthys project, where Clough and our partners have delivered the LNG jetty and module offloading facility contracts and are executing the integrated project management services contract,” Mr Gallagher said.

The central processing facility will become the world’s largest semi-submersible platform with a topside weight of 70,000 tonnes.
