Clough JV selected for $200m Qld pipeline project

A joint venture involving engineering and construction company Clough Ltd has been selected as the preferred proponent for the $200 million Wivenhoe Cressbrook pipeline project in Queensland.

Clough with partners Diversified Construction Corporation Pty Limited (a subsidiary of ASX listed Walter Diversified Services Ltd) and Maunsell Australia will, subject to satisfactory commercial negotiations and Queensland Government approval for the project, proceed to enter into an alliance agreement with the client LinkWater to deliver the project.

Located in Esk Shire, Queensland, the project will be delivered in two phases.

Phase 1 is for Business Case Development assistance to LinkWater including necessary preliminary design and decision by the Queensland Government on whether to proceed with the project, which is expected by mid 2008.

The Wivenhoe Cressbrook Project involves the design and construction of a 27 megalitres per day water pump station and 37 kilometres of buried pipeline between Wivenhoe Dam and Cressbrook Dam, and is part of a larger long-term water infrastructure programme being run by the Queensland Government for drought mitigation and future growth.

If Queensland Government approval is given, Phase 2 is expected to be completed by late 2009.

LinkWater, which is owned by the Queensland Government, is the entity responsible for the design, construction and operation of the potable bulk water pipeline network currently being built in South East Queensland and is a new client for Clough.
