Clarification: Ferrier Hodgson

ON 25 August 2005, WA Business News published and posted on our website an editorial item under the headline “How do we judge the Lalors?” It referred to Ferrier Hodgson partners Andrew Love, Garry Trevor Darren Weaver, then administrators appointed to Sons of Gwalia, now its deed administrators. The administrators have complained that the item meant that they had released a report to creditors to selected journalists improperly to disadvantage Sons of Gwalia co-founders Peter and Chris Lalor.Although WA Business News does not believe the item carried that meaning, we accept that the administrators did not act improperly. The administrators said that they did not release the report in circumstances which denied the Lalors an opportunity of publicly responding to the report’s findings or otherwise commenting upon them within an appropriate time.
