THE federal government has released a paper on draft governance standards and financial reporting regulations for charities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. The recently established ACNC is Australia’s national regulator for charitable organisations, and the new draft governance standards are intended to reflect a minimum set of standards for registered charities.
All charities endorsed by the Australian Tax Office were automatically registered with ACNC last week, and by 2013 they must be compliant with the standards that are currently under review.
The ACNC will be conducting information sessions in capital cities and regional centres in late January and early February 2013.
