CUSTOMER communications company Salmat Ltd has announced charges relating to its Western Australian operations will not proceed, following confirmation from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions that it will not appeal a recent court decision. On April 12 2006, the Western Australian Supreme Court ordered a permanent stay of proceedings brought by the Crown against Salmat Document Management Solutions Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of Salmat Ltd) and three employees. In 2003, charges had been brought alleging mail fraud in the period January 1995 to September 1998. In view of this judgement, these charges will not proceed. The company is reviewing its right to recover its costs in this matter.
