REGIONAL chambers of commerce are being urged to “look to the future” at this year’s annual Regional Chambers of Commerce annual conference to be held in Kalgoorlie Boulder from August 28 to 31.
This is the second annual conference for the chambers and marks a busy month for Kalgoorlie which has just finished hosting premier mining industry event Diggers and Dealers.
More than 100 delegates from around WA are expected to attend the conference, thrashing out answers to the issues and challenges that face regional development and growth.
Regional Chambers of Commerce executive officer Hugh Gallagher said regional Western Australia had to look and plan forward to ensure a bright future.
“This conference is about giving business people and local government the information, drive and impetus to do just that,” he said.
Kalgoorlie Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Laura Strachan said: “We have gone to great effort to ensure all delegates gain something from the conference and it does not get bogged down with bureaucracy”.
“This is the real world and we need real ideas and real solutions,” she said.
Speakers at the conference include Clontarf Football Academy chief and former Fremantle Dockers coach Gerard Neesham and Water Corporation chief executive Dr Jim Gill.
