Spices Catering owner and managing director Peter Hickson has been inducted into the Alinta Restaurant and Catering Industry Association hall of fame.

Spices Catering owner and managing director Peter Hickson has been inducted into the Alinta Restaurant and Catering Industry Association hall of fame.

Mr Hicks started his career in the catering industry in 1971 with Top Hat Caterers, before setting up Spices Catering in 1973.

Over the years he has managed numerous contracts through Top Hat and Spices including the Perth Royal Show, the Barbagallo Raceway and the WACA.

Spices currently cater for about 1,000 corporate functions and 2,500 events a year.

It is estimated that Spices Catering fed more than 1.5 million people in 2008, and that over Mr Hickson's 37 years in the industry he has fed more than 30 million people.

Previous inductees of the hall of fame include Leita Acquarola, previously of Romano's, Stephen Reagan of Newtown House, Maud Edmiston of Miss Maud's and Harry Ferrante of Simon's Seafood Restaurant.

Mr Hickson is the first caterer to be inducted into the hall of fame.
