THE administrators of Henry Walker Eltin Group, McGrathNicol & Partners have announced the sale of HWE’s mining contracting and services business together with part of its Western Australian civil construction business to Clough. The business is the seventh to be divested from the group and, with turnover in excess of $600 million, was the largest in the group. HWE Mining has a presence in iron ore in the Pilbara region of WA and is active in gold, coal, bauxite, nickel and copper both in Australia and overseas. Meanwhile, Clough will pay $1 million for the business which will add $25 million in contract value to the company’s order book, it said in a statement. One of the projects included in the business is the Roe 7 Highway extension, which is an alliance between Main Roads WA, Clough, HWE and Maunsell. As part of the heads of agreement, Clough will assume responsibility for the jobs and entitlements of the HWE employees currently working on the project.
