REDUNDANCY has lost its emotional impact with workers learning new skills to adapt to the new workplace environment, according to the founders of a new management agency, Tasker Correy Pty Ltd.
The new company, established by Bill Tasker and Rob Correy (associates of KPMG Consulting Pty Ltd), will provide career management services including job searching basics of preparing a resume, using and managing referees, accessing the hidden job market and the interview process.
Director Bill Tasker says the need for management services has greatly increased due to workplace practices requiring constant up-skilling.
He says the “womb-to-tomb” mentality of baby-boomers is no longer relevant because today’s employees can expect to have several careers over their lifetime.
As a consequence, Mr Tasker says whether seeking perm-anent, part-time or contractual employ-ment, job seekers are faced with intense competition as well as a new employment mindset regarding security of tenure.
Mr Tasker introduced out-placement services to Perth in 1986.
