Caravan maker heads to airport
Fleetwood Corporation has signed a long-term lease with Perth Airport to house the caravan maker’s administration, construction facility and display centre.
It has taken a 6.9 hectare site within Perth Airport’s precinct 3.
Perth-based Fleetwood, which specialises in mobile accommodation for retirement, recreation and resource development, needed space to expand its operations.
Fleetwood Corporation’s group financial controller Brad Denison said the site was conducive to the company’s business requirements with main road frontage and good customer access.
Perth Airport director of property development Andrew Whiteside said the development contributed significantly to long-term values in the area.
“In the last two years more than 32 hectares of land has been effectively sold on a long-term lease hold basis [Woolworths, Startrack and now Fleetwood], with an equivalent combined freehold value of more than $15 million,” he said.
“Part of Perth Airport’s property development strategy is to improve the marketability and appeal of lease hold land on the airport.
“The Fleetwood lease agreement confirms the strategic value of land in the Hazelmere area.
“There is a strong interest from transport companies and developers for land parcels of this size along Abernethy Road.”
