Canals rocked

WELL-KNOWN town planner Peter Chappell, from Chappell & Lambert, has emerged as one of the owners behind the controversial Canal Rocks Pty Ltd development at Smith Beach near Yallingup.

The development, which will include about 460 holiday units and 230 residences, has been caught up in protests from locals.

Canal Rocks chairman David Mackenzie, principal of Olifents Real Estate, said some of the major opponents to the development were full of hypocrisy because they were trying to get similar projects off the ground nearby.
