THE board of the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children Foundation Inc. has elected Ian Campbell as its new chairman, taking over from Tony Parker, who has served in the role for the past five years. Mr Campbell retired from a federal political career of 17 years in May 2007, having served in a range of senior portfolios, including as environment minister. He has a long association with PMH, as both his late father and his mother worked at the hospital. Also, his great uncle served on its board for 30 years. As a young man, Mr Campbell coordinated the southern suburbs region for PMH’s annual door knock appeal. Since retiring from politics, Mr Campbell has accepted several non-executive director roles for ASX listed and private companies, including Austal Ltd, ASG Group Ltd and Solco Ltd. He is also chairman of WA2011, the event manager for the International Sailing Federation World Sailing Championships in Perth in 2011.-Jashuan Dias
