STARLIGHT Children’s Foundation is calling all sailors, would be sailors and anyone who fancies an evening on the high seas (well the Swan River) to join the Starlight Challenge Cup on April 2.
Setting off from the Royal Perth Yacht Club, Crawley 30 yachts will partake in a twilight yacht race on the Swan with the first across the line taking home the 2004 Starlight Challenge Cup.
The yachts will each carry between eight and 11 guests. No sailing experience is necessary for the competition as a professional skipper, including America’s Cup veterans, will assist the teams in all aspects of sailing.
Following the race a gourmet barbeque will be served on the RPYC lawns, along with entertainment and dancing.
Companies that have already booked their yachts include Philllips Fox, iiNet, Fearis Salter Power Shervington, Swiftel, Optus Business, Stamfords, CSBP, Sally Malay Mining, Caltex Australia, 303 Advertising and Mortgage Australia.
All funds raised from the Starlight Challenge Cup support Starlight’s Wish Granting Program.
In Western Australia more than 100 wishes are being processed each year.
The foundation hopes to have enough money from the event to fulfil the dreams of eight children.
