CIMIC boosts order book by $180m

CIMIC Group’s maintenance and turnaround specialist business has secured $180 million in work, including at BP Australia's oil refinery in Kwinana.

Sydney-based UGL will supply electrical and mechanical labour and support management – comprising planners, engineers and supervisors – for the planned turnaround of the BP Kwinana refinery, scheduled for next year.

The turnaround was initially planned for early 2021, but was delayed due to coronavirus restrictions, a BP spokesperson said in April.

The refinery is located on Kwinana Beach, about a 40 minute drive south of Perth.

UGL has also received multi-year contract extensions with Esso Australia for the provision of operations and maintenance services on non-producing offshore platforms in Bass Strait, offshore Victoria, and with Viva Energy for maintenance services at its Geelong refinery.

Further, the CIMIC specialist business has received a multi-year extension of its maintenance and shutdowns services contract with Santos’ GLNG Operations for the Curtin Island facility.

UGL has also secured a new contract in Queensland that includes brownfields projects and operational services in the oil and gas sector.

CIMIC chief executive Juan Santamaria said UGL had a strong reputation for maintenance and shutdown services.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue developing strong partnerships with our clients, including our ongoing commitment to Viva Energy,” Mr Santamaria said.

UGL managing director Jason Spears said the contract extensions were evidence of the company’s strong relationships with its clients.

Shares in CIMIC were down 0.7 per cent to trade at $22.54.
