CCI slams wage rise

THE WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry has heavily criticised the $15 a week federal award pay rise recently granted by the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

CCI WA director of operations Brendan McCarthy said, while it was important that low income workers outside the bargaining system were not overlooked, the wage rise – and the process that produced it – was unwise.

“The national wage case ritual undermines enterprise bargaining and jeopardises labour market reform,” Mr McCarthy said.
