CBH Group appoints Andy Crane as new CEO

Eight-year veteran Andrew Crane will take over from Imre Mencshelyi as the new chief executive of grains handler CBH Group.

CBH chairman Neil Wandel congratulated Dr Crane on his appointment as CEO-elect, describing him as the most suited leader to guide the company forward.

"Dr Crane has held a number of executive roles in his eight year history with the CBH Group, giving him an in-depth understanding of the culture and future direction of the company," he said.

"This, combined with his extensive qualifications and thorough understanding of the industry, makes Dr Crane the stand out candidate to lead the CBH Group through the challenges and opportunities we face in the years ahead."

Mr Wandel said that Dr Crane will work closely with outgoing CEO Imre Mencshelyi over the coming two months to ensure a seamless leadership transition.

Dr Crane is currently the General Manager, Strategy and Business Development for the CBH Group where he's responsible for overseeing the identification and pursuit of strategies, opportunities and acquisitions to further strengthen the CBH Group's position for the future.

Prior to this role, Dr Crane was General Manager of Grain Pool for five years following its merger with Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH Group) in 2003.

Dr Crane moved to Australia from England in 2001 to join Grain Pool as barley marketing manager after more than a decade working for malt manufacturer and exporter, Pauls Malt. He has a degree in Environmental Science and a PhD in agriculture.

Dr Crane will take up the CEO position on April 1.
